Ready to spend! Christmas is around the bend!

November 4th, 2011 at 12:49 pm

As if I don't spend regularly on necessities of life (read: gas and groceries, and a few diversions to the resale store).

I applied for another Citibank Card - spend $500, get $100. I've already spent $150 on the card for Christmas gifts for sons (Lego! Lego! Lego! Ninjago and Harry Potter, no less!)

I have a coupon for $10 off of $50 at the Vera Bradley outlet and I'm getting both girls wristlets. I hope I can find something for my mom, because I doubt the two wristlets will put me at $50, probably more like $35-$40.

I am finding that I'm much more diligent on items for the Christmas this year, buying with a purpose.

How is your shopping coming?

Zero shopping done. However, it has been decided that the adults on my side of the family are donating money to a cause rather than buying gifts. Thus...four less gifts to buy!!

Pair of fabulous handmade recycled wool sweater felted thick mittens w/fleece lining from craft boutique $12

Handpainted tiny china dish $7.50 (and I'll add a silver pearl bracelet)

No Santa aged youngsters in our extended family just now, so we have agreed all gifts will be the type that gets used up or consumable. Nothing with potential to turn into clutter. I've already bought bright colored fuzzy socks, gloves, toques @ Dollar Store to keep in winter safety kit Red Velvet cake/muffins with a side of traditional cream cheese frosting. I've been asked for frozen cookie dough logs and a Silpat but those sheets are too pricey.

We will all contribute to buy grocery gift certificates for one of the large charity agencies distribution. It really bothers us that so many are having to choose between food and heat.

Most of my UK relatives are shopped for--and I sent them the gifts with DH when he went over last month. I've also got a couple cute hiking tees for my girlfriends I bought in England, and a few other things stocked up for DH. I started a batch of cherry brandy for my brother and will make a few other things. DD wants a Kindle or some sort of e-reader. Would love to hear advice on the best kind for a fairly responsible kid.

I got lucky this year, one of the companies that I contract for had us do mystery shops, so I got a ton of stuff for free, and I was able to shop at some speciality boutiques, places that I normally wouldn't shop at, mainly because of the prices.
