Love for the right reasons ...

August 2nd, 2010 at 08:27 pm

My brother's girlfriend broke up with him last Wednesday. This was the day after she learned that she passed our state's licensing exam for ther doctorate studies. She has a job lined up with a starting salary of $80K. She has never contributed to their financial life/household in the 3.5 years that they've been together. I certainly hope that next time he finds someone who loves him for the right reasons.

Today I am thankful that DH and I were happy even when we were both newly married poor college students with no more than three part-time jobs and $350 in savings.

I am sorry to hear about your brother, hopefully she really did love him and things just did not work out.

Sadly, the timing of her departure is suspicious - making it appear that my brother fulfilled his purpose of providing financial support ...

Ouch. Sounds like she stayed simply to use him for financial support. How very cold of her.

Sad. My brother was recently a victim in a similar way - only they were married and she managed to go out via the "abused spouse" route she wanted. No, my brother did not abuse her - she just managed to make things like that way. Frown Even though he never had much money, she was still looking for a free ride.

Ouch dmontngrey. That's what I went through too. Hope your brother makes it out OK as well.

DH and I had $300.00 in the bank when we got married. So sorry about your brother.
