"Nyquil, please."

October 16th, 2009 at 08:32 am

DH is fighting a cold - not a knock-you-down-cold, rather a kick-you-in-the-stomach-once-in-awhile-cold. We've got a busy weekend ahead, as well, requiring both parental units to conquer and divide the schedule carting kids around between volleyball tournaments, volleyball games, a birthday party, and then a visit to the pumpkin patch. Factor into this our own personal errands and "to do's".

DH has decided he would benefit from a decent night's rest tonight. This will necessitate non-generic cold medication.

His request: "Nyquil, please. The real kind. The stuff that puts you to sleep and helps with the symptoms."

My grocery store trip yesterday had a deal spend $25 on GM cereal, Progresso soup, Yoplait items, get a $10.50 coupon on next purchase plus another $1.50 off for buying 3 GM cereals. I'll be heading back to that store today with coupons in hand for Nyquil, namebrand, that will really help with the symptoms.

Glad for those coupons!

Nyquil is good stuff. Hope he feels better soon!

DH is sick right now and the Nyquil did not help him sleep and always makes me have weird sleep. I would go for an Advil PM if sleep is what he really needs. (DH and I are both insomniacs).

I am not trying to be contrary really! In fact DH called me on his way home from hunting and asked me to go get him Nyquil. He took it and then said it made him not sleep well and I have noticed that myself.

My Hubster says Nyquil gives him the 'willies' all night long, disturbing his sleep more than aiding it as well.

For myself, I'd go for either a couple of calcium tabs, or some calcium/magnesium supplement, or a couple of Kava-Kava tabs. Any of which help me get a good nights rest and are less big-Pharm, which makes my 'nature girl' side feel better about taking them.
